Hyundai Kona recently received the prestigious 2019 Ideal Vehicle Award from AutoPacific. It won this award for best meeting owners’ expectations in the Compact Crossover SUV segment.
The winners of the 2019 Ideal Vehicle Awards were chosen based on the responses of over 50,000 new vehicle owners about their vehicles’ design, performance, technology, efficiency and convenience features. The results of the AutoPacific New Vehicle Satisfaction Survey then were used to create scores for new model year vehicles.
In the Compact Crossover SUV segment, the Hyundai Kona had the highest overall vehicle score. It offers a variety of standard features, including LED Daytime Running Lights and a rearview camera.
With the 7-inch touch screen, you can access different apps, thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™ compatibility. The infotainment system also has optional Blue LinkLTE-powered connectivity, SiriusXM Radio and HD Radio.
The Hyundai Kona also has a suite of standard safety features, consisting of Vehicle Stability Management and Hill Start Assist Control. Available safety technologies include Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning.

Two Hyundais—the 2018 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport—earned the IIHS’s TOP SAFETY PICK+ for earning scores of “Good” in five crashworthiness tests, earning a score of “Advanced” or “Superior” in front crash prevention, and a rating of “Good” for headlights. More impressive still, the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport were the only two vehicles in their segment to earn the honor.
“Hyundai was one of the leading brands for Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick awards in 2018,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president of corporate and product planning at Hyundai Motor America, in a statement on the honors. “The safety of our customers and their loved ones is paramount in our thinking when we design new vehicles.”
Five other Hyundais—Hyundai Ioniq, Elantra, Elantra GT, Sonata, and Tucson—earned the TOP SAFETY PICK, just missing the additional +-mark with “Acceptable” headlight ratings. This is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment of making sure that its drivers and passengers can ride along with ease, knowing that their safety is a top priority.
“We raised the safety bar for 2018,” said Adrian Lund, IIHS president. “Now vehicles have to achieve an even higher level of safety. Our Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ awards help consumers zero in on the vehicles with the best overall performance for crash prevention and protection.”
